Early 1950’s T-Shirts and Sweatshirts - This is the oldest known imprint from Camp Wolverton. As shown, it is on a sweatshirt, but was likely also used on t-shirts. This is probably from the early 1950’s, but it could be even older.  A similar, one-color, simple design from Camp Josepho dates back to 1943. It is unknown if STAFF shirts were issued with the same design, but it is quite possible.

Late 1950’s T-Shirts and Sweat Shirts - In the late 1950’s, the design for the t-shirts and sweatshirts was improved and a second color was added. The design still shows the Hamm’s bear and includes the words Crescent Bay Area Council. A proof of this design from the Allison Manufacturing Co., Inc. dated 1958 is shown on this web site; it is not know if the 1958 proof was for the first order or a re-order. The t-shirts (and sweatshirts?) were made for campers and for staff, and were used through 1961. The label in these shirts is the Official Scout BSA label. Shown here are a camper t-shirt and a staff t-shirt. The Wolverton collection also includes a camper sweatshirt with this design.

1960’s T-Shirts - The two t-shirts shown in these photos represent the shirts worn by campers and staff at Camp Wolverton beginning in 1962.  The 1962 staff t-shirt is shown. The 1963 staff t-shirt had STAFF in green. The design for the staff t-shirt was replaced in the mid-sixties, but the camper shirt continued (it was re-ordered many times) until they ran out in about 1971.   All of these shirts have the Official BSA label.

Additional 1960’s T-shirts - The staff t-shirt was changed in the mid-sixties to a new design on the left breast.  That design continued through the early 1970’s.  Also, the same design was used, but the word STAFF was removed, for a leader's t-shirt.  Both of these are shown in the two photos here.  Both of these shirts have the Official BSA label.  In the 1990’s, the staff t-shirt was remade. The remade shirt looks almost identical to the original, but has lighter green ink, and the label is black and says "Screen Stars Best."  This t-shirt is also shown in a photo here.
