fast running streams, well upstream from where washing
is done or animals are tethered.  Never drink from a
lake.

LATRINE FACILITIES - Be sure an adequate latrine is set
up and used.  Latrine should be located about 50 yards
from your campsite or water. Have Scouts cover excretia
immediately (hand shovel should be left at latrine site
for this purpose.)

DISHWASHING - See new Camping Merit Badge Pamphlet.

GARBAGE - Anything burnable should be destroyed in the
cooking fire immediately after each meal. Cans and other
unburnable refuse should be returned to base camp.
Leave a clean campsite.

DON'T BURY ANYTHING.

TRAIL COURTESY - Each boy should be reminded that his
actions while on the trails of Sequoia National Park
will have an effect on the welcome other Scouts will
receive after him.

SWIMMING - Swimming should be done in designated
supervised areas only.  Portable buddy tags will be
provided for all units.  See "Safe Swim Defense Plan."
